Joby Aviation signed a letter of intent with Alatau Advance Air Group (AAAG) for the potential sale of electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft and related services valued at up to $250 million. The agreement, announced recently, aims to establish air taxi services in Kazakhstan, with pre-delivery payments included.
This partnership is supported by a memorandum of understanding with the Ministry of Artificial Intelligence and Digital Development of Kazakhstan, which will help develop the necessary regulatory framework for Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) in the country. Alatau City, a 340-square-mile urban development project, will serve as an initial market for these air taxis.
Additionally, Joby and AAAG are exploring industrial collaboration, including sourcing materials like titanium from Kazakhstan, which highlights the country’s role in the global aerospace supply chain. This partnership allows Joby to expand its international footprint and advance its strategy for sustainable urban transportation.
