Live cattle are down 65 cents to $1.32 at the start of the week, with August contracts priced at $185.300, October contracts at $185.850, and December contracts at $187.500. Feeder cattle prices also fell, with August contracts at $261.000, down $0.475, and September contracts at $261.800, down $0.425. Last week’s cash sales were steady at $190 in the south and $198 in the north, with USDA estimating 517,000 head processed, 19,330 head lower than the same week last year.

USDA wholesale Boxed Beef prices increased, with Choice boxes up $1.53 to $331.96/cwt, and Select boxes up $1.34 to $306.40. The Chc/Select spread widened to $25.56.
