Amazon’s AMZN cloud-computing platform, Amazon Web Services (“AWS”), has embarked on a bold journey to strengthen its position in the thriving generative AI market.

Delving deeper, the expansion of free credits to startups for utilizing AI models from providers like Anthropic, Meta, Mistral AI, and Cohere on Amazon Bedrock underscores their commitment.

Bedrock, a groundbreaking initiative by Amazon in the generative AI domain, offers seamless access to top-tier foundation models through an API.

By encouraging startups to harness advanced AI models through this initiative, AWS aims to power these fledgling businesses to new heights.

Over the past decade, Amazon has extended a whopping $6 billion in credits to startups. The existing cohort, initiated in January 2024 with Y Combinator, is now benefiting from a $500,000 credit offering.

This influx of free credits is poised to drive AWS’s momentum within the startup ecosystem and boost the adoption of Amazon Bedrock, paving the way for the expansion of AWS’s customer base and consequent revenue growth.

Amazon’s Expanding Reach in Generative AI

Signs of progress abound in AWS’s dynamic generative AI efforts.

Notably, a recent partnership with South Korea’s Upstage led to the launch of SOLAR MINI, a small language model, on AWS. SOLAR MINI excels in various language tasks in Korean and English, including understanding, summarizing, translating, and predictive functions.

Furthermore, AWS has deepened its collaboration with NVIDIA NVDA to infuse its portfolio with generative AI prowess. The NVIDIA Blackwell GPU platform, rolled out at GTC 2024, is now accessible on AWS. This partnership accelerates inference workloads for resource-intensive, multi-trillion-parameter language models.

With a keen focus on empowering customers to explore new generative AI capabilities, AWS offers NVIDIA GB200 Grace Blackwell Superchip and B100 Tensor Core GPUs, alongside Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud instances supported by NVIDIA Grace Blackwell GPUs.

Introducing a new feature to Amazon CodeWhisperer, delivering generative AI-powered tailored code suggestions from an organization’s internal codebase.

Such progressive strides are expected to position Amazon optimally to harness the vast opportunities in the booming generative AI market. Reports suggest that by 2032, the global generative AI market could burgeon to a value of $191.8 billion, experiencing a staggering 34.1% CAGR between 2023 and 2032.

On the Horizon: Rising Competition

Positioned at a Zacks Rank #3 (Hold), Amazon emerges as a fierce contender in this burgeoning sector, providing a competitive edge over rivals like Microsoft MSFT and Alphabet’s GOOGL Google, who are also making notable strides.

Amidst Microsoft’s continued success in the Intelligent Cloud arena, fueled by Azure’s robust adoption, Azure AI’s momentum remains laudable. Azure, like AWS, tantalizes AI startups with credits to leverage OpenAI’s models.

Similarly, Google Cloud, a vital revenue contributor to Alphabet, gains impetus from expanding generative AI capabilities, augmented data centers, availability zones, and cloud regions. The platform also entices users with cloud credits applicable to over 130 models on Vertex AI.

Zacks Names #1 Semiconductor Stock

While NVIDIA shines brightly, our top chip stock holds potential for monumental growth, catering to the burgeoning demand for Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, and Internet of Things.

Forecasts predict a surge in the global semiconductor manufacturing sector, with projections soaring from $452 billion in 2021 to an estimated $803 billion in 2028.
