IMAX Corporation and PATHE CINEMAS are taking their partnership to the next level with plans to install five cutting-edge IMAX with Laser systems in Europe.
The expansion includes four theaters in France, solidifying their position as one of the world’s most successful IMAX circuits.
Partnering for Spectacular Success
The collaboration between IMAX and PATHE CINEMAS extends beyond exhibition to distribution, demonstrating a commitment to bringing innovative cinematic experiences to audiences. One highlight of the extended agreement is the production and release of three upcoming PATHE LIVE films across the IMAX network, including the first-ever Filmed for IMAX classical ballet stage performance, “Swan Lake.” Choreographed by Rudolf Nureyev and performed by the Paris Opera Ballet, this extraordinary production, targeted for global release by the end of 2024, will be filmed with IMAX-certified cameras, promising a visually stunning experience.
State-of-the-Art Technology for Unforgettable Moments
The new PATHE CINEMAS locations will feature IMAX with Laser, providing moviegoers with an immersive experience boasting crystal clear, lifelike images and precision audio. Equipped with a 4K laser projection system with custom-designed lenses and proprietary technology, the theaters aim to deliver a next-level cinematic experience like no other.
Expanding Frontiers and Diversifying Content
The agreement aligns with two vital strategic objectives for IMAX: expanding its network in the French cinema market and broadening its content portfolio across innovative experiences. IMAX’s track record of significant box office results in France, particularly in 2019, underscores the strength of this collaboration. Since 2010, IMAX and PATHE CINEMAS have been operating 26 locations in various countries across Continental Europe, including France, the Netherlands, Belgium, Switzerland, and Morocco.
IMAX’s Global Reach and Audience Growth
IMAX’s ambitious collaboration efforts extend beyond Continental Europe. In partnership with Golden Screen Cinemas and NCG Cinemas, IMAX is expanding its footprint, with plans for advanced IMAX with Laser systems in Malaysia and new venues in Tennessee, Georgia, and Michigan. In addition, the strategic partnership with Prime Focus Technologies reflects IMAX’s foray into the streaming domain, signifying a broader application of technology solutions, including the Stream Smart technology that aims to enhance streaming experiences for customers in Europe, Asia, and Australia.
Promising Future with Strong Industry Ranking
The extended alliances and expansion plans point to IMAX’s commitment to evolving with the shifting currents of the entertainment industry. Despite carrying a Zacks Rank #3 (Hold) currently, IMAX’s projections and collaborations position it well for future growth. For investors seeking opportunities, companies like Comcast, Fox, and Warner Music Group—each with a Zacks Rank #2 (Buy) at present—present compelling options for consideration.
Ultimately, IMAX’s expansion and strategic initiatives suggest a promising trajectory in the ever-evolving landscape of entertainment.
