**Rivian Automotive, Inc.** is implementing an over-the-air software update for its R1S and R1T models, adding manual preconditioning for high-voltage battery charging. This update, available for both Gen 1 and Gen 2 vehicles, allows users to prepare the battery for DC fast charging without using the navigation system.
The latest software version (2025.18) introduces a redesigned Energy App that includes an Energy Monitor and a Charging Tab with smarter reminders for unplugging during long trips. Additionally, charging speeds have been enhanced; Gen 2 models can now reach a peak charging rate of 215 kW, significantly reducing the charge time from 10% to 80%.
