Chevron Corporation Sees Significant Hedge Fund Interest in Latest 13F Filings
At Holdings Channel, we have analyzed the latest disclosure of 13F filings for the reporting period ending on March 31, 2025. Notably, Chevron Corporation (Symbol: CVX) was included in the portfolios of 12 hedge funds. When many hedge fund managers show similar interests, it’s prudent to investigate further.
It’s essential to note that 13F filings only provide a partial view since these funds must disclose only their long positions with the SEC. Conversely, hedge funds are not required to disclose their short positions. For instance, a fund could adopt a bearish stance on a stock by shorting calls while also maintaining a long position in that same stock. This long position may appear in a 13F filing, leading to an assumption of bullish sentiment. However, the absence of the short side paints an incomplete picture as it does not reflect the fund’s entire strategy.
Despite this limitation, analyzing groups of 13F filings can uncover valuable insights, especially when comparing one holding period to another. Below is an overview of the changes in CVX positions during this reporting period:
