Breaking ground in the ETF sphere, Innovator unveiled a new defined outcome ETF, the Innovator International Developed Power Buffer ETF – March (NYSE Arca: IMAR), on Friday. The IMAR boasts a net expense ratio of 0.85%, as detailed in the comprehensive fund prospectus. This dynamic ETF primarily invests in Flexible Exchange (FLEX) options that shadow the performance of the renowned iShares MSCI EAFE ETF (EFA). The EFA, a stalwart in its domain, provides exposure to a diverse array of large and midcap securities across 20+ developed markets, excluding the contiguous nations of the U.S. and Canada.

The IMAR is not your run-of-the-mill ETF. It sets a return cap at an intriguing 19.30% before expenses and incorporates a protective downside buffer that cushions against initial losses of up to 15% during the outcome period, still prior to expenses. These outcomes are contingent upon investors retaining shares from the outset of the outcome period until its culmination.

The IMAR’s outcome period will draw to a close on February 28, 2025. Upon the curtain call of this initial outcome period, the fund will pivot to a fresh series of FLEX options in preparation for the subsequent outcome period.

Proliferation of New Innovator ETFs on the Horizon

Innovator’s burgeoning repertoire currently hosts nine other ETFs that furnish exposure to the EFA’s performance, complete with a cap and a 15% downside buffer. Should the suite adhere to a cadence of a fund reset each month, we can anticipate the probable unveiling of additional funds recalibrating in May, June, and August severally.

IMAR stands as the latest jewel in Innovator’s crown, accentuating a robust lineup encompassing over 110 U.S.-listed ETFs with collective assets approximating $18 billion. Noteworthy acclaim came the firm’s way as it secured the coveted Most Innovative Issuer accolade for 2023 at the renowned ETF Express awards, hosted during VettaFi’s Exchange conference in February. Leading the charge in Innovator’s fund portfolio is the $1.2 billion Innovator U.S. Equity Power Buffer ETF – January (PJAN).
