Meta Secures Renewable Energy Future Through Kelso Solar Project Partnership

Transition to Sustainable Energy Source

Meta Platforms, Inc. has taken a significant step towards a greener future by finalizing two long-term agreements with Arevon Energy, Inc. These agreements pave the way for the Kelso Solar Project in Scott County, Missouri, a sprawling endeavor that will produce an impressive 349 megawatts of power.

Positive Impact on the Local Economy

The Kelso Solar Project is not just a boon for environmental sustainability – it is also poised to energize the local economy. Arevon’s stewardship of the project will bring about tangible benefits to the region, creating more than 450 construction jobs and five permanent positions for the operation and maintenance of the solar facility.

Financial Windfall for Communities

Moreover, the partnership includes land leases with local landowners, a move set to inject millions of dollars in annual revenue into the area. The solar plant’s presence will also translate to substantial financial contributions to local governments throughout its operational lifespan, with an estimated $34 million earmarked for the community, including almost $28 million directed towards local schools.

Operational Timeline

Anticipation is high as the initial phase of the Kelso Solar Project gears up to begin operations in the fourth quarter of 2025, with the subsequent phase scheduled to kick off in the first quarter of 2026.
