“Quantum Stocks Surge: The Start of an Unfolding Opportunity”

Quantum Breakthrough Fuels Surge in Quantum Computing Stocks

It’s rare for a single announcement to trigger widespread increases in a group of stocks. However, that is precisely what occurred recently, sparking significant interest and momentum within the quantum computing sector.

First, I want to thank everyone who attended my Next 50X NVIDIA Call special summit earlier today.

During our session, we discussed several pivotal topics, including:

  • NVIDIA Corporation’s (NVDA) upcoming Quantum Day (Q Day) event.
  • The transformative impact quantum computing is expected to have on artificial intelligence (AI).
  • The particular stock I believe has the potential for a 50X return, similar to NVIDIA’s surge following the AI revolution.

You can access the replay of the Next 50X NVIDIA Call right here.

Timing proved to be fortuitous for this event.

Even though NVIDIA’s Q Day is still a week away, stocks in the quantum computing space experienced a significant gain on Wednesday, driven by exciting new developments I’d like to share with you.

Why Quantum Supremacy is Gaining Attention

A rare announcement recently sent tremors through the stock market, propelling an entire category of stocks upward by double digits. This surge happened after D-Wave Quantum Inc. (QBTS), a lesser-known player in quantum computing, announced a remarkable breakthrough that astonished investors.

D-Wave disclosed that one of its quantum systems completed a complex materials-science simulation in a mere 20 minutes. This feat is noteworthy as it represents a task that would take today’s most powerful classical supercomputers, like the Frontier, almost a million years to complete.

Moreover, D-Wave asserts it has solved a significant scientific problem using quantum computing. The findings were published in the peer-reviewed journal Science.

This achievement indicates that D-Wave has reached what is known in the industry as “quantum supremacy” by tackling a challenge no classical supercomputer could address.

This is a pivotal moment. For context, quantum computing has traditionally been confined to research labs and academic institutions.

To summarize, quantum computing utilizes advanced technology like ultracold superconducting chips to operate at the subatomic level. Unlike traditional computers, quantum computers process information using quantum bits, or “qubits,” enabling them to tackle complex problems that even the best classical supercomputers find daunting.

D-Wave employed an “annealing” quantum computer specialized in optimization challenges. These systems can rapidly explore vast numbers of possibilities simultaneously to find the most efficient solutions.

In this groundbreaking study, D-Wave collaborated with an international team to simulate “spin glasses,” a kind of intricate magnetic material with significant commercial and scientific relevance. The tests were executed on both D-Wave’s Advantage2 prototype and Frontier.

The results were remarkable. D-Wave’s quantum system completed the complex simulation in just minutes, producing precise data on lattice structures and magnetic properties. By contrast, the same computation would require nearly one million years on the Frontier supercomputer and more power than the entire world consumes in a year.

This development serves as a compelling indication that quantum computing is approaching readiness for practical application.

In response to the news, D-Wave’s stock jumped 11%. Additionally, a well-regarded quantum stock increased by 16%, while my top quantum recommendation saw a rise of 10%.

D-Wave’s stock received another boost today following its fourth-quarter and year-end financial results for 2024, rallying further by 18%.

For the fiscal year, the company reported an adjusted net loss of $75.6 million, or $0.39 per share—a $7.3 million improvement compared to the prior year. Revenue remained flat year-on-year, but bookings surged by 128% from the previous year ($23.9 million versus $10.5 million).

Key players in the quantum computing arena remain relatively small, many striving to build revenue, reduce losses, and achieve significant breakthroughs toward commercialization.

While this is a challenging task, the potential rewards are substantial. Quantum computing could:

  • Assist biopharmaceutical companies in developing groundbreaking drugs more quickly.
  • Enable automakers to create effective driverless car technologies.
  • Empower chemical companies to innovate materials beyond our current imagination.
  • And much more.

Rapid Progress in Quantum Computing

The advancements at D-Wave are just part of a broader trend. The pace of progress in quantum technology is accelerating.

Earlier this year, Google unveiled its quantum chip, Willow, capable of executing calculations millions of times faster than conventional supercomputers. (Details were discussed here.) Amazon also introduced its Ocelot quantum processor, while Microsoft launched Majorana 1, marking another step forward in quantum computing. (I provided an overview of these innovations here.)

These breakthroughs underscore a critical reality: quantum computing is swiftly moving from theoretical concepts to practical applications.

Industry leaders recognize this shift. NVIDIA, a key player in generative AI chips, is already positioning itself in the quantum arena, even ahead of its Q-Day event:

  • It has introduced CUDA-Q, a hybrid quantum-classical platform designed to bridge traditional and quantum computing. This platform aims to integrate quantum processing units (QPUs) with NVIDIA’s graphics processing units (GPUs), potentially shaping NVIDIA’s trajectory beyond this decade.
  • Furthermore, it is actively developing quantum simulation tools, allowing developers access to quantum-like environments ahead of widespread hardware availability.
  • Major industry participants are lining up to incorporate NVIDIA’s technology into their quantum initiatives.

NVIDIA understands that quantum computing will become crucial as conventional computing approaches its limits later this decade. It is precisely why I held the Next 50X NVIDIA Call summit earlier today.

However, here’s the important takeaway: as demonstrated by D-Wave’s announcement, quantum computing isn’t merely a future concept—it’s happening right now.

While D-Wave is impressive, it is not my top stock pick in this burgeoning field.

On March 20, I anticipate NVIDIA will announce a significant development involving my leading choice in this sector. I provided all necessary details in my Next 50X NVIDIA Call.

Quantum Computing’s Potential: Seize the Investment Opportunity Now

The Future of Innovation is Here

As the landscape of technology evolves, it’s crucial to keep an eye on innovative advances that will be making headlines. Quantum computing is now at a stage similar to artificial intelligence in 2016, just before NVIDIA experienced a massive 7,000% increase in its stock price.

Back in May 2016, NVIDIA had yet to benefit from the explosion of interest surrounding AI, which only gained momentum with the release of ChatGPT in November 2022. Since that time, NVIDIA’s value has surged over 600%. However, many investors missed an extraordinary opportunity, losing out on gains as high as 6,400% during that period.

Graph showing NVIDIA's growth

Eventually, quantum computing will reach its own “ChatGPT moment.” While this pivotal event may occur at NVIDIA’s Q-Day scheduled for March 20, even if it doesn’t, acting now could be key. Timing is critical before the broader public recognizes the potential of quantum computing, as substantial profits may already be realized by then.

This is why I encourage investors to take early positions. One strategy is to invest in a small-cap quantum computing company that stands to gain significantly from NVIDIA’s advancements. This company owns 102 patents and collaborates closely with industry giants such as NVIDIA, Microsoft, Amazon, and NASA.

Don’t delay until the market is fully aware of this opportunity. For a comprehensive overview, I recommend watching the replay of my Next 50X NVIDIA Call before it is no longer available.
