Surge Battery Makes Monumental Find in US

Greg Reimer, CEO of Surge Battery, heralded an extraordinary find, declaring the resource estimate for NNLP as “a significant lithium deposit and one of the highest-grade lithium clay deposits worldwide.” Located 73 km north-northeast of Wells in Elko county, the project spans 725 mineral claims across 58 sq. km.

Reimer emphasized, “At higher grade cutoffs, there are still very appreciable volumes of lithium that are largely contained in the clay horizons nearest surface.”

Even at a more stringent cut-off of 2,000 ppm, the inferred LCE resource would exceed 4 million tonnes, boasting a lithium grade of 3,167 ppm.

The resource estimate for NNLP is based on 20 drill holes completed between 2022 and 2023 under a NOI permit, totaling 2,758 meters and 1,973 samples. The drilling revealed a mineralized zone of lithium-bearing clays stretching over 3,500 meters and a known width of up to 950 meters.

A significantly enlarged drill program is scheduled for 2024 to expand the resource, as Surge Battery believes the current estimate only covers a portion of the known footprint of mineralization at NNLP. Furthermore, a comprehensive surface mapping program and additional soil sampling are planned.

The company intends to collaborate with the Bureau of Land Management in spring to determine the extent of reclamation possible under the current NOI permit. Drilling will commence upon securing the exploration plan of operations permit.

Meanwhile, its metallurgical testwork with Kemetco is well underway, with results expected in the first quarter.

By midday Thursday, Surge Battery Metals surged by 14% to C$0.53 a share on the TSX Venture Exchange, resulting in a market capitalization of C$83.9 million ($62m).
