The Nasdaq Composite faced major headwinds on Tuesday, shedding over 200 points, yet Walmart Inc. WMT stood aloft, reporting stellar fourth-quarter results that outstripped expectations, steering a 4.9% climb in its stock price to $178.66.


Walmart’s resilience was reflected in its robust fourth-quarter FY24 net sales growth, which scaled 5.7% year-over-year to a staggering $173.39 billion, besting the consensus of $170.71 billion. Its adjusted EPS at $1.80 eclipsed the benchmark of $1.65.


The company’s fortitude reverberated further as its board sanctioned an annual cash dividend for fiscal year 2025, bequeathing 83 cents per share on a post-stock split basis or $2.49 per share on a pre-split basis, marking a 9% escalation from the last fiscal year.


As Walmart charted its stellar trajectory, other major stocks also witnessed upward mobility, underscoring the fervor in today’s session.
