Wheat Prices Continue to Decline at Midday

The wheat market saw a decline on Friday, with Chicago SRW futures down 24 to 25 cents and KC HRW futures falling by 22 to 24 cents. MPLS spring wheat contracts also decreased by 20 to 22.25 cents, signaling a significant drop across all exchanges.

The Kansas Wheat Quality Tour reported an average yield of 38.9 bushels per acre (bpa), marking the lowest yield since 2023 and the second lowest since 2018. This year’s total production was estimated at 218 million bushels (mbu), slightly higher than the USDA’s 214 mbu estimate released on Tuesday.

In France, as of May 11, the wheat crop was rated 80% good/excellent, unchanged from the previous week, while the durum crop stood at 71%.
