It was a rollercoaster of emotions for Amtech Systems, Inc. ASYS as its shares took a steep nosedive on Thursday after the company reported a disappointing fourth-quarter sales and issued bleak first-quarter sales guidance.

The fourth-quarter sales of $27.70 million missed the mark by a significant margin, failing to meet the $34.50 million consensus estimate. The first-quarter revenue outlook of $21 million to $24 million fell well short of the expected $34.15 million.

Mark Miller from Benchmark didn’t mince words as he downgraded Amtech Systems from Buy to Hold, further contributing to the plummeting stock price, which ended the day down 30.6% at $4.16.
