Ambarella, Inc. introduces its latest innovation in artificial intelligence (AI) with the 5nm CV75S family at the ISC West security expo. This revolutionary development offers unmatched power and cost efficiency for running multi-modal vision-language models (VLMs) and vision-transformer networks, democratizing cutting-edge AI technologies across diverse applications.

A New Era for AMBA: Introduction of the CV75S Family

Chris Day, Vice President of Marketing and Business Development at Ambarella, highlights the pivotal role of the CV75S family in enabling mass-market product designers to integrate the latest vision-transformer technologies. These SoCs bring advanced AI-based image processing to a wide range of price points, elevating image quality for a myriad of applications.

The CV75S equips enterprise cameras to efficiently run VLMs, allowing for features like natural-language searches for objects or scenes within captured footage. This technological leap opens the door to new AI capabilities in enterprise cameras without the need for retraining or deploying new AI models for each task.

AMBA’s Growth Story: Propelled by Innovative SoCs

Ambarella is renowned for its SoCs that deliver high-performance video processing while operating on low power consumption. Additionally, AMBA’s highly customizable SoCs provide a cost-effective and power-efficient edge over its competitors.

These unique advantages have positioned Ambarella as a frontrunner in the SoCs market, catering to high demand across wearable cameras, IP cameras, automotive dashboard cameras, and drone camera manufacturers.

Moreover, the company continues its success in introducing computer video solutions based on CVFlow architecture, with AI SoCs like CV3, CV2, CV5, CV25, and CV22 gaining traction among customers.

However, AMBA faces challenges in the near term, including customers scaling back inventory and reduced demand in certain markets over recent quarters.

In its latest financial results for the fourth quarter of fiscal 2024, Ambarella reported a 38% year-over-year drop in revenues, primarily due to softness in its Internet of Things segment. The company posted a non-GAAP loss of 24 cents per share for the quarter, compared unfavorably to the year-ago quarter’s earnings of 23 cents per share.

Charting Future Growth: AMBA’s Strategic Moves

With Ambarella’s latest CVflow 3.0 AI engine, the CV75S delivers three times the performance of the previous generation, supporting VLMs, vision transformers, and advanced AI-based image processing. The integration of Ambarella’s leading image signal processor and USB 3.2 connectivity further enhances its capabilities.

To accelerate time to market, the CV75S family leverages Ambarella’s Cooper Developer Platform, offering comprehensive hardware and software solutions for edge AI systems. This platform includes industrial-grade hardware tools and Cooper Foundry, a multi-layer software stack supporting Ambarella’s complete AI SoC portfolio.

The CV75S is currently in the sampling phase and will be showcased at Ambarella’s exclusive exhibition at ISC West in Las Vegas. This advancement underscores Ambarella’s dedication to delivering state-of-the-art AI solutions tailored to diverse market needs and applications.
