Afternoon trading on Thursday has revealed that Technology & Communications stocks are the top performers, gaining 1.0%. Noteworthy among these are Epam Systems, Inc. (Symbol: EPAM) and Super Micro Computer Inc (Symbol: SMCI), which have seen impressive increases of 14.4% and 11.3%, respectively. In addition, the Technology Select Sector SPDR ETF (Symbol: XLK), which tracks this sector, has risen by 1.4% today and boasts a remarkable year-to-date gain of 23.50%. However, it’s worth noting that Epam Systems, Inc. is down 22.05% year-to-date, and Super Micro Computer Inc is down 11.13%. Together, EPAM and SMCI represent about 1.9% of the XLK’s holdings.
Services Sector Shows Strong Performance
The next strongest sector is Services, which has increased by 0.4%. Among major players in this category, Warner Bros Discovery Inc (Symbol: WBD) and Meta Platforms Inc (Symbol: META) stand out, with gains of 11.3% and 3.5%, respectively. Despite this, Warner Bros Discovery Inc is down 18.05% year-to-date, while Meta Platforms Inc shines with a year-to-date increase of 67.70%. WBD comprises approximately 3.3% of the IYC’s holdings.
