Tesla CEO Elon Musk has declared that the company’s humanoid robot, Optimus, could become the most valuable product in history, potentially surpassing the iPhone. Musk stated on a recent Wall Street conference call that Optimus could drive over $10 trillion in revenue. Currently operational in Tesla factories, the robot performs light-duty tasks and is set for mass manufacturing this year, with plans to sell to external businesses in 2025.
Powered by Tesla’s AI and Full Self-Driving technology, Optimus is capable of walking, talking, and performing a variety of tasks, including cooking and cleaning. Musk envisions a future where humanoid robots could fundamentally transform industries, leveraging advances in AI intelligence that have improved significantly in the last year—from an average IQ of 80-93 to 95-130.
In Musk’s view, humanoid robots represent the next great technological leap, similar to past innovations that reshaped labor markets. By providing a continuous, unpaid labor force, these robots have the potential to disrupt industries and reshape the global economy.
