Will JD Retail Benefit from China’s Consumer Recovery in 2025?

JD.com’s JD Retail generated revenues of RMB 263.8 billion (approximately USD 36.4 billion) in Q1 2025, accounting for 87.7% of JD.com’s total revenue as China’s consumer market rebounds. The platform is focused on value-driven online experiences, with initiatives in supermarkets, fashion, and food delivery, supported by a RMB 200 billion “export to domestic” program.

JD Retail had over 2.2 billion orders during its 2025 618 campaign, doubling shopper numbers year-over-year, while facing competition from Alibaba and PDD Holdings. Shares of JD.com have decreased by 8.4% year-to-date (YTD), trading at a forward P/E ratio of 7.75, significantly lower than the industry average of 24.39.

The Zacks Consensus Estimate for JD’s Q2 2025 earnings is 77 cents per share, which reflects a downward revision of 20.6% and a projected 40.31% year-over-year decline.
