The Health Care Select Sector SPDR ETF (XLV) was down 1.0% on the day and 1.01% year-to-date. GILD is up 20.72% year-to-date, while BMY is down 13.73%. Combined, GILD and BMY account for approximately 4.8% of XLV’s holdings.
The materials sector was the second worst, showing a 1.0% loss. Notable losses included Albemarle Corp. (ALB) at 3.9% and Masco Corp. (MAS) at 2.5%. The Materials Select Sector SPDR ETF (XLB) was down 1.0% for the day but up 9.56% year-to-date. ALB is down 16.15% year-to-date, while MAS is down 8.50%, with ALB making up about 1.1% of XLB’s holdings.
Overall, one sector was positive while eight sectors were down during Friday’s trading session.
