Uber and Lucid Partner for Autonomous Robotaxi Service
Starting next year, Uber Technologies (NYSE: UBER) plans to deploy over 20,000 Lucid electric SUVs equipped with the Nuro Driver, a Level 4 self-driving system, as part of a premium robotaxi service across more than a dozen global cities. Uber will also invest hundreds of millions of dollars in both Lucid Group (NASDAQ: LCID) and Nuro, a Silicon Valley autonomous driving technology start-up.
The initial rollout of this autonomous service is set to launch in a major U.S. city in late 2024, following successful closed-course testing in Las Vegas. As of Q1 2025, Lucid reported cash reserves of $3.61 billion, but faces a negative cash flow rate of $589.9 million per quarter.
