Kodal Minerals (LON: KOD) reported that a security guard was killed during an attack on its Bougouni lithium mine in Mali on August 22. The assailants, on motorcycles, were repelled by military forces stationed at the site, resulting in the death of one guard, while no other staff were harmed.
Following the incident, Kodal is collaborating with the Malian government to enhance security for its personnel, with increased military presence at the mine. Operations at Bougouni, which commenced production in February and aims for 11,000 tonnes of spodumene concentrate per month, remain unaffected. The mine has an agreement to sell its entire output to China’s Hainan Mining.
