Tuesday Sees Corn Prices Rise

On October 9, 2023, corn futures rose by 1 to 2 ¼ cents, with the CmdtyView national average cash corn price reaching $3.70 1/4, an increase of 1 ¾ cents. The USDA reported corn export shipments at 1.129 million metric tons (MMT), equivalent to 44.47 million bushels (mbu), which marks a year-over-year increase of 119.74% but a decline of 33.61% from the previous week. Mexico was the largest recipient, importing 299,156 MT, followed by Colombia (202,680 MT) and South Korea (140,416 MT).

For the marketing year 2025/26, total corn exports amount to 7.94 MMT (312.59 mbu) since September 1, reflecting a 64.97% increase compared to the same period last year. Meanwhile, Taiwan has issued a tender for up to 65,000 MT of corn, with a deadline for offers set for Wednesday. Additionally, CONAB has raised its estimate for the 2025/26 Brazilian corn crop to 138.6 MMT, while ANEC projects October Brazilian corn exports at 6.46 MMT, an increase of 0.4 MMT from last week.
