On Tuesday, lean hog futures increased by 65 to 85 cents, while the USDA’s national base hog price rose to $90.66, up 6 cents from the previous day. The CME Lean Hog Index was recorded at $95.58 as of October 17, a decrease of 54 cents.
USDA’s pork carcass cutout value dropped by 9 cents to $101.99 per cwt. The estimated federally inspected hog slaughter for Monday was 492,000 head, which is an increase of 7,000 head from the previous week but down 10,917 head compared to the same week last year.
For December 25 Hogs, the price is $82.925 (up $0.850), February 26 Hogs at $85.425 (up $0.700), and April 26 Hogs at $89.600 (up $0.650).
