Corn futures closed on Friday with contracts down 10 to 11.5 cents, while December futures gained 3 cents over the week, ending at $4.30 1/4. The national average Cash Corn price dropped 11 cents to $3.91 ½.
The USDA’s updated Crop Production report revealed a corn yield of 186 bushels per acre (bpa), slightly down by 0.7 bpa from September, with total output at 16.752 billion bushels (bbu), lower by 62 million bushels than previously estimated. Traders had expected a yield of 184 bpa. Additionally, world corn ending stocks are now estimated at 281.34 million metric tons (MMT), down 0.06 MMT compared to September.
For the 2024/25 season, carryout numbers increased to 1.532 bbu, with total 2025/26 supply rising to 18.309 bbu. The cash average price was raised by 10 cents to $4.00.
