Meta Platforms, Inc. (META) announced new nuclear energy partnerships with Oklo Inc. (OKLO), TerraPower, and Vistra Corp. (VST) to secure clean power for its data centers and AI operations in the U.S. The agreements were revealed on Friday, marking a significant step towards sustainable energy solutions.
Through a collaboration with TerraPower, Meta is supporting the development of up to eight advanced Natrium reactors, with an initial two expected to generate 690 megawatts by 2032, potentially reaching a total capacity of 2.8 gigawatts by 2035. Additionally, the partnership with Oklo in Pike County, Ohio, aims to create a facility that will deliver 1.2 gigawatts to the PJM grid starting around 2030.
Meta has also signed 20-year contracts with Vistra, securing over 2.1 gigawatts of electricity from existing nuclear plants in Ohio and Pennsylvania, including upgrades that are anticipated to provide an additional 433 megawatts.
