On January 15, USDA’s FGIS reported U.S. wheat export shipments totaled 392,661 metric tons (14.43 million bushels), marking a 23.48% increase from the previous week and a 49.97% rise compared to the same week last year. Mexico was the leading destination, receiving 110,660 metric tons, followed by Japan with 82,764 metric tons and Taiwan with 54,455 metric tons. As of January 15, marketing year exports for 2025/26 reached 15.975 million metric tons (586.96 million bushels), up 19.84% from the same period the previous year.
On the trading front, Chicago SRW futures closed at $5.10 1/4, down 7 3/4 cents, while Kansas City HRW futures and Minneapolis spring wheat also experienced losses, ranging from 2 to 8 cents. Notably, Saudi Arabia purchased 907,000 metric tons of wheat and Algeria an estimated 600,000 metric tons in recent tenders. European data revealed 11.8 million metric tons of wheat exports from July 1 to January 15, trailing last year’s 12 million metric tons for the same time frame.
