Cotton Prices Fluctuate, Ending in Mixed Results After Initial Gains

Cotton futures experienced mixed trading on January 27, 2023, with March contracts closing at 63.73 cents per pound (down 10 points), May contracts at 65.46 cents (up 1 point), and July contracts at 67.1 cents (up 9 points). Crude oil prices increased by $1.10 per barrel to reach $63.49.

During an online auction on The Seam, cotton sold for an average of 56.06 cents per pound on 10,023 bales, while the Cotlook A Index fell 75 points to 73.30 cents. ICE certified cotton stocks rose by 2 bales to a total of 8,597 bales, and the Adjusted World Price was reported at 50.99 cents per pound, down 18 points from the previous week.
