Corning Incorporated (GLW) has entered into a long-term agreement valued at up to $6 billion with Meta Platforms (META) to facilitate U.S. data center expansion. The deal, announced on October 3, 2023, will involve Corning supplying advanced optical fiber and connectivity products necessary for high-speed AI data centers, bolstering local economies and job creation.
Corning plans to expand its manufacturing capabilities at its Hickory, North Carolina facility as part of this investment, which aims to strengthen U.S. supply chains and enhance American technology for next-generation data centers. This expansion is projected to create a skilled workforce in the region.
