Berkshire Hathaway’s Tech Investments
Berkshire Hathaway, under Warren Buffett, has recently focused on tech investments, acquiring shares of Apple in 2016, Amazon in 2019, and Alphabet, which is expected to influence future growth. As of January 30, Apple shares have surged 966%, Amazon’s are up 169% since Q1 2019, and Alphabet’s stock rose 39% since Q3 2025.
Despite Buffett’s reluctance to invest in tech, Meta Platforms (NASDAQ: META) emerged as a missed opportunity, with its shares rising 177% over the past five years. Meta boasts 3.58 billion daily active users across its apps, benefiting from substantial network effects and a vast data collection advantage that enhances user engagement and advertising capabilities.
As of now, Berkshire Hathaway is transitioning leadership to Greg Abel after Buffett’s departure as CEO, potentially marking a shift in investment strategies toward more tech-focused opportunities.
