DuPont de Nemours, Inc. has been selected by United Utilities to provide its MemCor membrane bioreactor (MBR) systems for the expansion of wastewater treatment at three facilities in North West England: Eccles, Salford, and Wigan. This decision follows a competitive bidding process aimed at meeting stricter discharge standards and enhancing effluent quality.
The expansion will make the Wigan facility the largest MBR plant in the U.K., serving over 437,000 people. Membrane bioreactors integrate activated sludge treatment with membrane filtration to improve effluent quality and operational efficiency. With over 300 installations worldwide, MemCor technology is recognized for its efficiency, reliability, and lower costs.
