AT&T, Inc. has launched a Connected AI solution designed to enhance smart manufacturing processes. This solution utilizes Gen AI to identify bottlenecks, provide real-time machine monitoring, and facilitate predictive maintenance, aiming to reduce downtime and improve operational efficiency.
The initiative, which integrates 5G technology, edge AI, and knowledge management, addresses critical challenges in the manufacturing sector, particularly the loss of institutional knowledge. AT&T collaborates with industry leaders such as NVIDIA and Microsoft to bolster its offerings, and early pilot tests have reportedly shown significant improvements in manufacturing parameters.
As AT&T enters this competitive market, it faces challenges from Verizon, which is expanding into private 5G networks, and Vodafone, a prominent player in European IoT connectivity. AT&T’s stock performance has increased by 2.1% over the past year, contrasting with a 7.2% decline in the wireless industry overall.
