POSCO Holdings Inc. is investing approximately KRW 357 billion to construct an artificial graphite anode material plant in Thai Nguyen, Vietnam, with construction set to begin in the second half of 2026. The facility aims to reach an annual production capacity of 55,000 metric tons, with commercial production expected by 2028, as part of POSCO’s strategy to bolster its global battery material supply.
This new plant comes in addition to POSCO Future M’s existing facility in Pohang, South Korea, which currently produces 8,000 metric tons annually. The decision to locate in Vietnam is influenced by the country’s favorable electricity and labor costs, robust logistics infrastructure, and advantageous trade access to significant markets like the U.S. and Europe.
By diversifying its production outside South Korea, POSCO Future M expects to enhance its global battery supply chain and establish itself as a major player in the anode materials sector.
