On Wednesday, April 26, lean hog futures experienced declines, with losses ranging from 87 cents to $1.40. The USDA reported the national base hog price at $92.89, up 12 cents from the previous day, while the CME Lean Hog Index increased by 10 cents to $90.97.
The USDA also noted that the pork carcass cutout value fell by 69 cents to $98.41 per cwt, with only the ham primal seeing an increase. Approximately 496,000 hogs were federally inspected on Wednesday, bringing the weekly total to 1.476 million—23,000 above last week and 13,613 above the same week last year.
