Amazon’s Growth Trajectory and Financial Highlights
Amazon (NASDAQ: AMZN) reported a projected net sales of $716.9 billion for 2025, with analysts forecasting a compound annual growth rate of 12.2% from 2025 to 2028, aiming for over $1 trillion in yearly sales. Notably, Amazon Web Services (AWS) generated $128.7 billion in revenue in 2025, boasting a 35.4% operating margin, reflecting robust demand for cloud computing services as organizations transition IT workloads to the cloud.
As of March 9, Amazon’s stock has increased nearly 214,000% since its IPO in May 1997, making a $1,000 investment worth approximately $2.1 million today. Despite this significant growth, some analysts suggest Amazon may not be the top investment choice currently, with the Motley Fool highlighting ten stocks they consider better alternatives.
AWS CEO Andy Jassy emphasized the company’s strengths in artificial intelligence, stating that Amazon is well-positioned to capitalize on the growing demand for AI infrastructure as companies seek more cloud computing solutions. AWS’s capital expenditures are expected to reach $200 billion this year, a significant jump from $131 billion in 2025.
