Cotton prices rose by 112 to 151 points on Monday, with December 2024 cotton reaching 68.75 cents per pound, up 151 points. Meanwhile, the U.S. dollar index decreased by 482 points, falling below 102, and crude oil prices dropped by $1.25 per barrel.
On August 16, ICE cotton stocks decreased by 2,759 bales, resulting in a total of 12,767 bales of certified stocks. The Cotlook A Index rose 15 points to 78.60 cents per pound, while the USDA Average World Price (AWP) increased by 11 points to 55.35 cents per pound for the upcoming week. Managed money spec funds reported a net short position of 49,454 contracts as of Tuesday, marking a reduction of 2,570 contracts over the week.
