Wheat Markets Struggle on St. Patrick’s Day

Wheat markets experienced losses on Tuesday, with Chicago SRW futures dropping by 5 ¼ to 8 cents, Kansas City HRW futures decreasing by 6 ¼ to 9 ¾ cents, and Minneapolis spring wheat falling by 7 to 10 cents. In contrast, crude oil rose by $2.52 on the same day. The Kansas Crop Progress report indicated that winter wheat conditions declined 4% to 52% classified as good/excellent, with the Brugler500 index decreasing 9 points to 339.

In the European Union, wheat production was estimated at 142.6 million metric tons (MMT), down 1.3 MMT from previous forecasts. Additionally, EU wheat exports from July 1 to March 15 were projected at 16.77 MMT, an increase of 1.23 MMT compared to the same timeframe last year.
