Lucid Partners with Uber to Expand Driverless Vehicle Initiative
Lucid Group (NASDAQ: LCID) announced a significant expansion of its partnership with Uber (NYSE: UBER) at its recent Investor Day in New York. The deal will integrate Nuro’s autonomous technology into 20,000 or more Lucid Gravity SUVs, with the aim of deploying around 40,000 vehicles for Uber’s robotaxi service over the next six years. This expansion follows a $300 million investment from Uber and represents a key milestone in Lucid’s ambition to scale driverless vehicle production.
The upcoming midsize platform, which includes the new Lunar robotaxi concept designed for optimized economics, is central to this initiative. Lucid has reported eight consecutive quarters of record deliveries, indicating its production issues may be resolving. The term “robotaxi” denotes the expected usage of these vehicles for ride-hailing services, an important pivot in the EV market.
