Soybean Prices Surge Amid Unexpected Acreage Decline

On Tuesday, soybean futures experienced a midday increase of 10 to 14 cents for the 2026 contracts. The cmdtyView national average cash bean price rose by 8.25 cents, reaching $10.95. Additionally, soymeal futures saw gains of $1.90 to $2.30, while soy oil futures climbed by 60 to 72 points.

According to the NASS Prospective Plantings report, farmers intend to plant a total of 84.7 million acres of soybeans this spring—a rise of 3.485 million acres compared to last year, but 787,000 acres lower than market expectations. March 1 soybean stocks were reported at 2.105 billion bushels, an increase of 194 million bushels from the previous year and exceeding Bloomberg’s estimate by 19 million bushels.
