Corn Prices Decline Midweek

On March 1, the USDA’s annual March Prospective Plantings report indicated that corn acreage for the upcoming spring is projected at 95.338 million acres, a decrease of 3.45 million acres from last year but higher than the 94.37 million average trade guess. Grain Stocks data reported 9.024 billion bushels, falling 89 million bushels short of predictions yet still showing an increase of 887 million bushels from a year prior.

In market activity, corn prices showed a decline of 4 to 5 cents on Wednesday morning. The May 2026 corn futures closed at $4.57 ¾, rising 2 cents, while July and December futures also experienced slight increases but are currently down 4 ¾ cents. The CmdtyView national average cash corn price remained steady at $4.14.
