Anthropic, a leading AI developer, reported a significant increase in its annual revenue run rate, which soared from $9 billion to over $30 billion between late 2025 and early April 2026. To support its rapid growth, Anthropic has partnered with Broadcom to access 3.5 gigawatts of Tensor Processing Unit (TPU)-based AI compute resources.
Recent reports indicate that Anthropic is exploring the possibility of designing its own AI chips, although no dedicated team has been established for this project. The discussions are still in early stages, and Anthropic may opt to continue purchasing chips from other manufacturers instead. Should they proceed with chip development, a partnership with Broadcom could enhance their collaboration, potentially improving revenue streams for both companies.
Anthropic has also attracted significant investment from Amazon, which recently invested $8 billion in the firm and utilizes Anthropic’s capabilities alongside its own Trainium chips. This raises the potential for other partnerships, including with Marvell, Amazon’s chip partner, although Broadcom remains a key contender due to its existing agreements with Anthropic.
