Endeavour Mining reported the death of a contractor at its Mana mine in Burkina Faso on Friday due to injuries sustained during maintenance activities. The incident has prompted a comprehensive internal investigation, but mining and processing operations on-site have not been interrupted.
Following the news, Endeavour Mining’s stock fell by as much as 3% in Toronto, trading around C$83.90 midday, with a market capitalization of C$20 billion (approximately $14.7 billion). The Mana mine has operated for over a decade and has produced more than 2.1 million ounces of gold, transitioning from open-pit to underground operations. Endeavour owns 85% of the mine, with the Burkina Faso government holding the remaining 15%.
