In early trading on Thursday, Procter & Gamble saw a rise of 2.0%, making it the best-performing component of the Dow Jones Industrial Average. Year-to-date, the company’s shares have gained 3.9%. Meanwhile, Merck was the worst performer, trading down 0.9%, despite a year-to-date gain of 4.6%.
Other notable movements included Travelers Companies, which fell 0.6%, and American Express, which increased by 1.9%.
