Meta Platforms, Inc. (META) plans to lay off approximately 8,000 employees across various regions, including the United States, Europe, and Singapore. Notifications were sent to Singapore employees at 4 a.m. local time on Wednesday, while U.S. and European workers are expected to receive notifications early in their local time zones.

This restructuring is part of CEO Mark Zuckerberg’s strategy to realign the company towards artificial intelligence initiatives while streamlining operations and reducing costs by cutting certain business units. Meta continues to focus on increasing investments and hiring in AI-related teams and infrastructure.
