AMD Gains Market Share Over Intel in Server CPU Market

Advanced Micro Devices (NASDAQ: AMD) captured significant market share from Intel (NASDAQ: INTC) in the server central processing unit (CPU) market during the first quarter of 2026. AMD’s share rose to 46.2% in revenue, while Intel’s market share declined to 66.8%, down from 72.8% in the same period last year, according to market research firm Mercury Research.

AMD’s server CPU revenue increased over 50% year-over-year, totaling $5.8 billion, driven by strong demand from cloud and enterprise customers. Meanwhile, Intel’s data center revenue reached $5.1 billion, reflecting a 22% year-over-year growth. The server CPU market is projected to grow at an annual rate of 35%, reaching $120 billion by 2030, which could further exacerbate Intel’s market challenges as AMD continues to expand its client base across various sectors.
