Market Cap Update: Microsoft vs. Amazon

As of now, Microsoft’s market cap stands at $2.8 trillion following a 22% drop this year, while Amazon’s market cap is at $2.6 trillion after a 6% increase. Analysts suggest Amazon may surpass Microsoft to reach the $3 trillion mark by this summer due to its performance in the AI sector, despite Microsoft having a valuation advantage.

In the latest quarter, Amazon reported a 17% increase in net sales, its strongest growth in four years. Microsoft experienced an 18% year-over-year revenue growth in three of its past four quarters, marking a four-year high as well. However, analysts believe Amazon’s momentum in cloud services through Amazon Web Services (AWS) gives it a better position in the ongoing AI revolution.
