UMB Financial Corporation, through its subsidiary UMB Fund Services (UMBFS), has integrated iCapital’s distributed ledger technology (DLT) into its alternative investment servicing infrastructure. This implementation, announced recently, enhances UMBFS’ operational efficiency by establishing a shared data framework for onboarding, subscription processing, and fund servicing workflows.
The integration allows UMBFS to streamline core processes, reducing manual touchpoints and reconciliation needs, thereby improving scalability in handling increasing transaction volumes. UMBF’s shares have gained 22.7% over the past three months, compared to the industry’s 5.7% increase, positioning the company favorably within the financial market.
This move aligns UMBF with broader industry trends toward modernizing private fund infrastructure through blockchain technology, similar to initiatives undertaken by firms like Itaú Unibanco and Morgan Stanley to enhance operational efficiency in alternative investments.
