Hogs End Monday Trading with Mixed Results

Lean hog futures rose by 70 to 90 cents in front-month contracts on July 26, while deferred contracts fell between 42 cents and $1.30. The CME Lean Hog Index decreased 23 cents to $91.55 on June 25. USDA’s national base hog price was not reported on Monday, July 26.

The USDA reported a 2.29% increase in pork carcass cutout value, reaching $97.66. Estimated federally inspected hog slaughter for Monday was 485,000 head, surpassing the previous week by 29,000 and the same day last year by 16,686 head.
