Nvidia’s AI Rack System Delayed
Nvidia’s next-generation Kyber NVL144 AI rack system may be delayed until 2028, according to technology research firm SemiAnalysis. The delay is attributed to manufacturing issues with a critical circuit board, which could allow competitors like Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) and Alphabet to gain traction in the high-end AI infrastructure market.
Nvidia has indicated that its overall roadmap remains intact despite these setbacks, but the delay could impact its competitive advantage. Kyber is intended to support advanced AI tasks and aid in data center operations, prompting potential interest from AMD and Alphabet, both of which are looking to strengthen their positions in this growing sector.
The AI infrastructure market is poised for growth, and a shift in dynamics could benefit AMD, which has made improvements to its ROCm platform and recently acquired memory optimization software. In parallel, Alphabet’s Tensor Processing Units (TPUs) offer competitive cost-efficiency, further highlighting the potential for market share shifts among these tech giants.
