Cotton Prices Decline by Tuesday’s End

Cotton futures closed lower on Tuesday, October 26, with contracts down between 23 and 74 points. As of Sunday, 60% of the U.S. cotton crop was squared, slightly ahead of the average, while 22% was setting bolls, matching a five-year average. Condition ratings fell to 44% good/excellent, down 2 percentage points from the previous week.

The Cotlook A Index remained steady at 90.70 cents as of July 13, and ICE certified cotton stocks decreased by 5,842 bales to a total of 121,258 bales. The Adjusted World Price climbed by 92 points last week to 62.86 cents per pound. Specific contract closures included October cotton at 79.6 cents, December at 80.87 cents, and March at 82.23 cents.
