Qualcomm Enters AI Data Center Market
Qualcomm is launching its AI data center compute business, projecting at least $15 billion in revenue by fiscal 2029, up from zero a year prior. The company has secured agreements with major hyperscalers, including Microsoft and Meta Platforms, to supply AI processing chips.
This move comes as the global AI processor market is set to grow from approximately $58 billion last year to over $146 billion by 2029. Qualcomm aims to capture about 10% of this market to reach its revenue target. Its technology claims to deliver four to eight times more performance per watt compared to existing GPU architectures, significantly addressing efficiency challenges in AI.
