Amazon Reports Strong Q2 Earnings
Amazon (NASDAQ: AMZN) reported impressive Q2 results, outperforming analyst expectations with a 20% company-wide revenue growth, one of its best post-COVID performances. Amazon Web Services (AWS), the company’s cloud computing segment, reported a 37% sales growth, significantly exceeding the anticipated 31% growth. This division generated $16.6 billion in operating income, accounting for approximately 60% of Amazon’s total profits.
Amazon’s capital expenditures for 2023 are projected at $220 billion, primarily focused on expanding data centers to meet increasing demand, particularly from AI services. The strong performance in Q2 and the ongoing investment in infrastructure position Amazon to maintain robust growth in the future.
